Barcelona Reject Arsenal’s €90M Offer for Raphinha, Insist on €100M — Report

By Abigail Philip David

Barcelona have turned down Arsenal’s €90 million bid for Brazilian winger Raphinha, reportedly holding firm on their valuation of €100 million for the 27-year-old star.

Raphinha has been in electrifying form this season, amassing 12 goals and 10 assists in just 17 appearances. His performances have solidified his role as a cornerstone of the team under manager Hansi Flick, who has even entrusted him with the captaincy.

The rejection highlights Barcelona’s determination to keep hold of the versatile winger, with Spanish outlet *Fichajes* reporting that the Catalan giants will not entertain offers below €100 million.

“His ability to adapt to multiple attacking roles makes him indispensable to Barcelona,” the outlet stated.

Arsenal’s renewed interest comes after a failed attempt to sign Raphinha from Leeds United in 2022, prior to his move to Camp Nou. Manager Mikel Arteta is said to value Raphinha’s dynamism and creativity, viewing him as a perfect fit for his attacking system.

“Raphinha’s versatility on both wings aligns seamlessly with Arteta’s philosophy,” noted *Football Transfer*.

However, Arsenal face significant hurdles. The club’s transfer policy typically prioritizes younger players or more affordable deals for older talents, as seen with recent acquisitions like Leandro Trossard and Jorginho. Raphinha, who turns 28 next month, would require Arsenal to make an exception.

Compounding the uncertainty is Arsenal’s current lack of a sporting director, though reports suggest PSG’s Luis Campos is a potential candidate for the role.

Meanwhile, speculation in Spain hints that Barcelona could consider selling Raphinha for a record fee to fund a move for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, a long-term target. For now, however, the Catalans remain resolute in keeping their in-form captain unless their €100 million valuation is met.
