Arsenal’s Plan to Bid for Victor Osimhen in 2024

English Premier League club Arsenal is reportedly strategizing to make a bid for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the summer of 2024. The move is planned to take place when Osimhen’s contract with Napoli has just one season left to expire.

Osimhen gained significant attention in the football market after his outstanding performance in Napoli’s Scudetto-winning season last year, where he scored an impressive 26 goals and provided five assists in 32 Serie A games.

Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport reveal that Osimhen is open to agreeing on a new four-year deal with Napoli, which would include add-ons and a club-record salary of almost €7 million net per season. However, negotiations have hit a snag due to the release clause issue. Osimhen wants the clause set at €120 million, while Napoli’s De Laurentiis is insistent on a minimum of €160 million.

This impasse has left the door open for other top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, to consider making a move for the talented striker. Recently, a Saudi Pro League club made an offer of over €130 million for Osimhen, which Napoli rejected.

If Napoli fails to extend Osimhen’s contract this summer, and he does not accept the offer from the Saudi Pro League club, Arsenal is reportedly ready to pursue the Nigeria international. However, it remains uncertain whether Arsenal will be willing to spend over €150 million on the transfer, as the club has not been known for heavy spending in the transfer market until recent times.
