Bauchi to participate in Edo 2020 edition of NSF – Governor

Bauchi State Government said on Monday that it would be participating in the ‘Edo 2020’ edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF).

Gov. Bala Mohammed, stated this at the Government House, Bauchi, while receiving the ‘Unity Torch’ for the 20th edition of the sporting event.

Mohammed, represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr Ladan Salihu, stated that the present administration was committed towards repositioning the sports sector.

According to him, the astro turf (artificial grass) at the renovated Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium paved way for the return of the state-owned team, ‘Wikki Tourists FC’ to its home ground after spending two seasons away.

He assured that the state would send its contingent to Edo State, not only to participate in the fiesta, but to win medals.

Also speaking, Alhaji Abubakar Sulaiman, the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, promised that he would prevail on concerned sports authorities to ensure that the state contingent excel.

Suleiman assured that he and other officials would form part of the contingent to provide assistance to the state athletes.

The state Director of Sports, Alhaji Maikudi Maikasuwa, described the unity torch as symbol of peace, unity and solidarity among Nigerians, especially athletes and officials.

Maikasuwa commended the state government for its political will towards promoting sports in the state. (NAN)
