Bayelsa United Chairman Applauds Team’s Resilience After Goalless Draw with Kano Pillars

By Amgbare Ekaunkumo, Yenagoa

Chairman of Bayelsa United Football Club, Dr. Tarilaye Nwankwe, has commended the team’s resilience and determination after holding Kano Pillars to a goalless draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 12 fixture on Sunday.

The tightly contested match, played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, earned Bayelsa United a vital away point, strengthening their position in the ongoing league campaign.

Speaking shortly after the encounter, Dr. Nwankwe praised the players and coaching crew for their dedication and fighting spirit, noting that the result was a morale booster for both the team and supporters back home.

“The point secured away has brought smiles to the faces of our supporters who followed the game from home,” Nwankwe said. “The team’s spirit in recent games shows that they are hungry for success and committed to making this season a memorable one.”

He lauded the team’s consistency and resilience in their last two matches, describing it as a reflection of growing confidence and tactical discipline under the coaching staff.

“Their impressive performances so far this season will go a long way in defining our campaign. If we sustain this momentum, we can challenge any team in the league,” he added.

Dr. Nwankwe also applauded Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali, for his steadfast support and encouragement. He acknowledged Igali’s presence in Katsina as a motivating factor for the players, reinforcing the synergy between the club and the state government.

The chairman further expressed appreciation to the Bayelsa State Government for facilitating air travel for the team during long-distance fixtures, noting that the logistical support has significantly enhanced their readiness and performance.

“The government’s commitment to the team’s welfare and logistics has been instrumental to our success. It ensures our players remain focused and physically prepared for each game,” Nwankwe stated.

He concluded by urging the team to maintain their high standards and continue striving for better results as the season progresses.

“If we can keep this level of performance, Bayelsa United will finish in a respectable position in the NPFL table. We are grateful to our fans for their unwavering support and to the government for believing in the team,” he said.
