Benue Security Council to Review Security Situation in Katsina-Ala, Ukum LGs

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has stated that the Benue State Security Council would review the security situation over ban on use of Motorcycles in Ukum and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas next week. 

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Council’s attention has been drawn to reports of the destruction of impounded motorcycles in Ukum and Katsina-Ala, assuring that the Security Council will review the on-going operations in the affected areas.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s sustained support to security operatives to enable them to be alive to their responsibility in protecting lives and property of citizens.

Meanwhile, over 30 impounded motorcycles were reportedly burnt at Kyado in Ukum local government area by security operatives saddled with the responsibility of enforcing the ban on use of Motorcycles in the area.

An eye witness told  DayBreak that the armed Soldiers stormed Kyado and mounted a road block at the Abako junction while some of the operatives moved to the yam market where they impounded over 40 motorcycles out of which 7 were set ablaze. 

The Chairman of Ukum local government area, Hon Steve Ayua has confirmed the development.
