A brazen attack unfolded on Saturday night as suspected gunmen raided the Dutse Makaranta community in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), resulting in the abduction of at least five individuals.
According to reports, the assailants infiltrated the community under cover of darkness, entering through the hilly terrain that connects the area to Mpape, another locality within the FCT.
Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing ordeal, revealing that the bandits descended upon the community near a Mango tree in an area referred to as New Jerusalem in Dutse Makaranta around 8:00 pm on Saturday.
Residents, gripped by fear, endured a sleepless night, anxiously awaiting daylight amid the unsettling atmosphere.
“A woman, three men, and two boys were kidnapped during the incident. Fortunately, one of the abducted boys, aged three, was found in the bush early Sunday morning,” a resident disclosed under conditions of anonymity.
Tragically, the mother of the abducted children suffered additional torment as she endured physical assault at the hands of the kidnappers. She is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital for her injuries.
The brazen attack has rattled the Dutse community, prompting heightened concerns over escalating insecurity in the area.
In the wake of the incident, residents are urging security agencies to redouble their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly and secure the safe release of the abducted individuals.
