Bruno Onyemaechi Banned: Misses Boavista’s Clash with Sporting Braga

By   Milcah  Tanimu

Boavista’s struggles in the Portuguese Primeira Liga deepened with the news that Super Eagles left-back Bruno Onyemaechi will miss their next league match against Sporting Braga on Sunday, January 26, 2025, due to suspension.

Onyemaechi, 26, received his fifth yellow card of the season during Monday’s 3-2 home loss to Casa Pia, which automatically triggers a one-match ban. His yellow card issues started in September, continuing with bookings in October, December, and January.

Despite his disciplinary record, Onyemaechi has been a standout performer for Boavista this season. In the recent Casa Pia match, he scored his third goal of the season and provided an assist, underscoring his importance to the team. Unfortunately, his efforts couldn’t prevent the loss, leaving Boavista struggling near the bottom of the table.

Onyemaechi’s absence for the upcoming clash with SC Braga will be a major setback for Boavista. His impressive performances have caught the attention of Turkish and Greek clubs, boosting his reputation in the football world.

While Boavista will miss his contributions, they will aim to bounce back from their defeat and secure valuable points in the league. However, Onyemaechi will be sidelined for the match as he serves his suspension.
