Cross River: Theresa Ushie Foundation Hosts Medical Outreach in Bekwarra

The Theresa Ushie Foundation, has reiterated its commitment to continue impactful health initiatives.

Addressing newsmen during a report sharing, and accountability event held for the comprehensive medical outreach held on Friday, September 27th, at the Primary Health Care Centre, Model Abuochiche, in Bekwarra Local Government Area (LGA), Cross River State, the foundation revealed plans to carryout more activities that will benefit the bekwarra indigenes.

Recall, The founder, Hon. Theresa Akwaji Ushie, recently made history as the first female chairman of Bekwarra LGA, breaking a long tradition of male leadership.

The report highlighted that the outreach offered a wide range of free healthcare services, including general medical consultations, child health promotion, diabetes and hypertension screening and treatment, as well as specialized counseling on female reproductive health. Community members also received education on hand and dental hygiene, breast health, and awareness campaigns on MPOX and cancer control.

It disclosed that the event featured the distribution of free medications, mosquito nets to combat malaria, and free eye care services, including prescription glasses. Emergency clinic services were also provided to address immediate health concerns.

Speaking on the importance of health, Hon. Ushie emphasized her dedication to improving healthcare access. A long-time advocate for community health, she pledged to use her new office to expand further such initiatives.

“This outreach is just one of many efforts to ensure our people receive the medical attention they deserve.As Chairman, I will leverage the platform and resources to do even more,” she stated.

Meanwhile the outreach was organized in collaboration with the Cross River State Ministry of Health, the General Hospital in Bekwarra, and the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA).
