Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the 8th National Assembly and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the successful conduct of its National Convention, describing it as a milestone that strengthens both the party’s internal democracy and Nigeria’s political stability.
Dogara emphasized that the Convention was not only about electing new officers but also about reaffirming the APC’s institutional discipline and capacity to govern. He noted that the emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman and Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary reflects a deliberate effort to consolidate leadership around competence, stability, and organizational strength.

Dogara also highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s role in shaping the party’s strategic direction, noting that his vision and courage have been central to consolidating achievements and projecting confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
Reflecting on the broader implications, Dogara stated: “This Convention is a declaration of resilience and readiness to serve. It demonstrates that the APC remains deeply rooted in democratic ideals and committed to Nigeria’s prosperity.”
He concluded by expressing confidence that the new leadership team will not only consolidate past gains but also chart a bold course for the future, ensuring that the APC remains a stabilizing force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
