The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has shut down 13 fuel stations for irregularities and violation of safety rules in Nasarawa state.
The operations controller Abdullrahman Mohammed, made this disclosure after a routine inspection of fuel and gas stations in the state.
He added that six gas refilling outlets were also sealed for various offences and one LGP plant in Lafia own by Skywave Energy and Gas Ltd was also affected.
Mohammed explained that some of the stations were sealed for not having valid license and necessary safety equipment to operate, non- compliance and operating illegally, while two dumped stations were marked for demolition with the collaboration of Nasarawa Urban Development Board (NUDB).
The controller said “The 11 LPG skids were sealed because their operators were operating illegally. While the only LPG Plants sealed by the department was as a result of non availability of a gas detector and anti-spark floor mat in refilling shed”.
The affected stations include, Araho water’s limited, Ashenanye oil, Alizaga, and A.L international limited.
Others are Lucksam global resources, Harnibal gases, Leksherde gas, Carafa gas and Jou’s enterprise among others.
He said the exercise was to enforce standard and regulations in the downstream petroleum sector to enable the owners of this fuel and gas stations to do the right things.
