EFCC Hands Over ₦3.9bn Recovered Funds to NNPCL

By Wilfred Francis

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over ₦3.9 billion in recovered funds to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The handover took place at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where the Secretary to the Commission, Mohammed Hammajoda, presented the funds on behalf of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede.

Hammajoda said the recovery followed investigations into alleged fraudulent activities linked to some actors within the oil company. He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to tackling economic and financial crimes and safeguarding public resources. “We will continue to carry out our duties with courage and integrity in service to the nation,” he said during the brief ceremony.

Receiving the funds on behalf of NNPCL, the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, thanked the EFCC for its role in the recovery. He described the development as a demonstration of institutional cooperation in addressing financial irregularities.

Dagazau said the company remains committed to strengthening its internal processes and working with relevant agencies to improve transparency and accountability. The EFCC said the recovery highlights ongoing efforts to trace and recover public funds linked to alleged financial misconduct.
