By Daniel Edu

A deadly encounter unfolded in Katsina State as Nigerian Police Force personnel engaged a group of fleeing bandits in a violent exchange. According to a statement from ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Katsina police spokesperson, the incident occurred in Korogo, a village within the Daddara District of Jibia Local Government Area. The bandits had initially raided the village and stolen a number of sheep.

Upon receiving the information, the DPO (Divisional Police Officer) of Jibia quickly assembled a team of officers who swiftly arrived at the scene. A fierce gunfight ensued between the police team and the bandits. The confrontation resulted in the death of one of the assailants, with the police recovering sixty rustled sheep and an AK-47 rifle.

Additionally, during the operation, the authorities seized one hundred and ten rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

Sadiq stated that the combined efforts of law enforcement compelled the criminals to abandon their nefarious intentions and flee into the nearby wooded area. As the scene was combed, the body of a suspected bandit was discovered, along with the recovery of sixty stolen sheep, an AK-47 rifle, and the cache of live ammunition.

The investigation continues to uncover further details about the clash.
