FHQ Dominates 15th BIPOGA Swimming Competition With 15 Gold Medals

By Anne Azuka

The Police Force Headquarters (FHQ) dominated the swimming events at the 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA), tagged Asaba 2026, winning 15 out of the 29 gold medals decided across various categories.

FHQ’s commanding performance in the pool accounted for more than half of the available gold medals, underlining their strength and depth in the sport. From the preliminary heats through to the finals, the team maintained clear superiority, often finishing with comfortable margins ahead of their closest rivals.

Their impressive outing has positioned them as the team to beat in future editions, although the unpredictable nature of sports leaves room for fresh challengers in subsequent competitions.

Zone 2 (Lagos) finished second overall with four gold, nine silver and five bronze medals. Zone 16 placed third, recording four gold medals as well, alongside six silver and twelve bronze medals.

Zone 17 secured fourth position with three gold, five silver and four bronze medals.

Zone 5 finished fifth with one gold, four silver and two bronze medals, while Zone 6 came sixth with one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

Zone 11 occupied seventh position with one gold and one silver medal, while Zone 10 placed eighth with two silver medals. Zone 15 finished ninth with one silver and one bronze medal, and Zone 4 rounded off the table in tenth position with two bronze medals.

The swimming competition once again highlighted the competitive spirit and athletic excellence that have characterised the ongoing BIPOGA 2026 in Asaba.
