Gbajabiamila condoles over demise of Africa’s first Professor of Geology, Oyawoye

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, has mourned the demise of the first professor of geology in Africa, Prof. Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye.

The Speaker sent his heartfelt condolences to the family, the people of Offa, and the government of Kwara State over the demise of the first professor of geology in Africa.

Gbajabiamila said the professor had the grace of reaching the ripe age of 96 before his demise.

He said family and friends, and indeed the country, will take solace in a life well spent by Prof. Oyawoye, whose rich and enduring legacy in academics and philanthropy will not only inspire generations to come but will continue to impact the future of humanity, science, and geology in Africa and beyond.

He also noted that Nigerians will not forget his dedication and service to the nation while he served as Chairman of the West Africa Examinations Council.

The Speaker prayed for the repose of the erudite Professor of Geology and for Allah to grant him Al Jannah Firdaus.
