Football management agency Geezerz Sports, owners of Geezerz Football Academy, has announced a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering grassroots football development in Nigeria. The organization plans to launch its inaugural Secondary Schools Football League in the first quarter of 2025, with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) serving as the pilot center.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Mr. Adedayo Adeniyi, Director of Project and Programme Development at Geezerz Sports Limited, outlined the league’s objectives. He emphasized that the program will extend to all 36 states of Nigeria, providing a platform to identify and nurture talented young footballers.
“As we look forward to 2025, we are excited to unveil several key programs that aim to expand our reach and deepen our impact,” Adeniyi said. “We intend to launch a league for secondary school students that will not only promote grassroots football development but also instill core values such as teamwork and discipline.”
The league is designed to create competitive opportunities for students while fostering a love for football. Adeniyi underscored the importance of collaboration, revealing that Geezerz Sports will work with various stakeholders, including the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), to ensure the league’s success.
“By collaborating with key stakeholders in football, education, and community development, we aim to create sustainable opportunities for young talents across Nigeria,” he added. “At Geezerz Sports, we are guided by a clear mission to encourage young talents and harness the power of football as a transformative tool for community and social development.”
With this initiative, Geezerz Sports is set to make a significant impact on youth football in Nigeria, paving the way for the next generation of football stars.
