Government will sanitize the college of Health in Abia- Gov. Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that his administration will do all it takes to sanitize the operations of the State College of Health and Management Technology, Aba to endure that the institution continues to play the strategic roles of producing Healthcare professionals, especially in the area of Community Health.
The Governor gave this assurance today while receiving the report of the Visitation Panel set up by his administration to do a holistic review of the activities and operations of the institution for greater efficiency.
The Governor thanked the Panel members for their patriotism and diligence in completing their assignment in good time and assured them that their reports will be studied and implemented religiously.
Governor Ikpeazu added that the Institution is key to the health and environmental wellbeing of our people, remains the primary source of health care manpower in our state, especially in the area of primary health care. He made it clear that his administration will ensure the survival of the Institution and its full repositioning for greater efficiency.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Visitation Panel, Professor J U Ogbonna while presenting the report informed the Governor that the Institution was in dire need of a major surgical operation and key institutional reforms. Professor Ogbonna stated that the Institution has the potential of becoming a powerful institution if well managed.He expressed concern at the level of financial recklessness by key management staff of the College and asked the Governor to intervene.
