Governor Yusuf Unveils Dangote’s 1Million Ramadan Food  Programme.

   Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has unveiled the 2025 annual  Aliko Dangote Foundation  (ADF) Ramadan Food Support program targeting one million people nationwide with 120,000 beneficiaries from Kano.  

The event held  at the Kano State Government House, marked the second consecutive year of the initiative aimed at assisting the less privileged across the state. 

 This was contained in a Statement made available to newsmen by the governor's Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa in Kano.  Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his continued philanthropy, describing the initiative as a significant contribution to alleviating hunger, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan. 

 He noted that this year, the foundation is distributing 120,000 bags of 10kg rice across the 44 local government areas of Kano State.  To ensure transparency in the distribution process, the governor highlighted that the state government has established a committee comprising relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the Hisbah Board, security agencies, Civil Society Organizations, religious leaders, and local authorities. 

 He urged all those involved to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity and fairness, emphasizing the need for the food items to reach the intended beneficiaries. 

The governor spoke at length on Kano State Ramadan Feeding Programme that provided 91,000 people with Iftar meal daily across 91 designated centers and support of 1200 50Kg bags of rice to 44 local goverments of the state for distribution to those in need.  

In a remark, the representative of Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), Hajiya Mariya Aliko Dangote said the gesture was envisaged to assist one million beneficiaries across the country and unveiled the distribution in Kano in view of it's strategic importance.  

She restated the committement of the foundation to continue to support humanitarian services aimed at making life better for millions of people. 

 In an opening remark, the Deputy Commander of HISBAH, an agency that will coordinate the distribution, Sheikh Mujahedeen Aminudeen quoted verses of the Quran and Hadith of the holy prophet stressing the importance of feeding the poor and those in need.  

He urged well-to-do individuals, philanthropists and organizations to emulate Alhaji Aliko Dangote in spending on course of charity assuring that HISBAH will ensure prudence in the sharing process.
