Group Commends Tinubu for Buhari’s Dignified Farewell

Renewed Hope Advocates Commend President Tinubu for Honouring Late President Buhari with Dignified Farewell
By Israel Adamu, Jos

The Renewed Hope Advocates of Nigeria, led by Comrade Prince Miaphen, have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the befitting state honour and burial accorded to Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away earlier this week.

In a statement issued in Jos, Comrade Miaphen described President Tinubu’s dignified handling of the final rites of the late statesman as a true reflection of loyalty, leadership, and statesmanship. He noted that the burial ceremony not only symbolized the enduring bond between President Tinubu and his predecessor but also underscored the importance of institutional continuity, national unity, and the recognition of past leadership as a foundation for sustaining democracy.

“President Tinubu has once again demonstrated uncommon grace and respect for national values by honouring President Muhammadu Buhari in such a profound and symbolic manner. It was not merely a ceremonial farewell; it was a testimony to the enduring ideals of service, sacrifice, and patriotism,” Miaphen said.

According to Miaphen, President Buhari’s legacy remains a significant part of Nigeria’s political history. From his early career as a young officer in the Nigerian Army to serving as Military Governor, Federal Commissioner for Petroleum, Head of State, Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, and ultimately as a two-term democratically elected President, Buhari’s contributions were marked by discipline, frugality, and a deep commitment to national integrity.

“His was a life wholly dedicated to national service. Love him or not, you cannot ignore the fact that President Buhari gave his all—on the battlefield, in governance, and in the fight against corruption and insurgency. His death marks the end of an era, and it is only fitting that President Tinubu honoured him with the dignity he rightly deserves,” Miaphen stated.

The group also used the occasion to commend President Tinubu for ongoing economic reforms and developmental initiatives aimed at laying the foundation for a prosperous and equitable Nigeria. Miaphen acknowledged the current economic hardship but praised the President’s commitment to long-term structural reforms, including the unification of the foreign exchange system, removal of fuel subsidy, and strategic investments in infrastructure and social protection.

He stated that President Tinubu’s bold economic agenda reflects the same vision and discipline that characterized President Buhari’s leadership—particularly in the prudent management of national resources and efforts to build a nation rooted in transparency, accountability, and security.

Comrade Miaphen further lauded the Tinubu administration for continuing Buhari’s infrastructural legacy, noting that projects such as the Second Niger Bridge, expressway upgrades, and the revitalization of the rail system are being sustained and expanded.

“Those of us who identify with the Renewed Hope Agenda are proud to see the President translating vision into policy, and policy into action. The fruits of these efforts may not yet be fully ripe, but the tree has been firmly planted. We urge Nigerians to be patient and trust the process. The President is working,” he said.

While mourning the former President, Miaphen called on Nigerians to reflect on the value of national service and honour the memory of leaders who dedicated their lives to the nation’s progress. He extended heartfelt condolences to President Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians, praying for the peaceful repose of the late leader’s soul.

“In mourning President Buhari, we also celebrate his life of principle and unwavering commitment to Nigeria. He came, he saw, he served. His departure must inspire all of us—especially those in public office—to renew our dedication to this great nation,” Miaphen added.

He concluded by calling for unity, national healing, and forward-looking leadership, stating that a nation that honours its past is better positioned to shape a meaningful future.

“As we reflect on this moment in history, let us rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, support the Renewed Hope Agenda, and build on the legacy of leaders like Muhammadu Buhari. Together, we can usher in a Nigeria that works for all—united, just, and full of promise,” the statement concluded.
