Imo Governor Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for workers, following productive negotiations with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joint Union Negotiating Council. This move underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing worker welfare amid rising living costs.

The governor also announced that payments of outstanding gratuities to local and state retirees would begin immediately, with plans to increase pension allowances after completing an ongoing audit.

For consolidated salary earners already at the minimum wage threshold, an additional 10% salary increase will be implemented. The decision aligns with a consensus between the implementation committee and labor unions.

The NLC and TUC leadership in Imo State commended Governor Uzodimma, vowing to ensure greater worker dedication and productivity.
