UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, has revealed his interest in exploring the world of professional wrestling (WWE). However, he clarified that he wouldn’t want to commit to a long-term career in the wrestling industry.
During a discussion on “The Halfcast Podcast,” Adesanya shared his thoughts on potentially entering the world of WWE. He expressed his willingness to make brief appearances in the wrestling world, stating that he might consider doing one, two, or possibly three stints in WWE, rather than committing to a weekly schedule.
The 34-year-old Nigerian-born Australian fighter explained his reservations about becoming a full-time WWE wrestler. Adesanya values the ability to shape his own narrative and dislikes the idea of others determining the characters he portrays or the overall direction of his story. He emphasized that taking on a long-term role in wrestling would compromise his identity and what he stands for.
Adesanya acknowledged that he draws inspiration from legendary WWE personality Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He admires The Rock’s charisma and mic skills, particularly in his ability to captivate audiences with witty and entertaining performances, much like a stand-up comedy show. Adesanya sees The Rock as a source of inspiration and believes that he can learn from such WWE icons to enhance his own presence and performances, even if it’s only for limited engagements in the wrestling world.
