Jubilation as Gov Mutfwang’s DOPA, Dr. Bere, Donates Transformer to Plateau Community

By Israel Adamu, Jos

It was a moment of celebration in Dalyoho community, Chugwi Ward, Vwang District of Jos South LGA, Plateau State, as Dr. Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPA) to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, donated a transformer to boost electricity supply in the area.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to uplift the community and tackle the persistent power outages that have plagued residents for decades.

For years, Dalyoho community has struggled with erratic electricity supply, hindering economic activities. In 2015, community leaders sought assistance from former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dalyop Fom, who responded by donating a transformer. However, multiple politicians over the years failed to fulfill their promises to install it.

After nearly a decade of neglect, the community reached out to Dr. Bere, who swiftly took action to install the long-abandoned transformer.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Bere emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Mutfwang’s vision of providing essential infrastructure to communities.

“I am deeply grateful to those who originally donated this transformer. It is a privilege to contribute to the development of my hometown. Lighting up rural areas is crucial to our administration’s policies,” he stated.

He urged residents to continue supporting Governor Mutfwang’s administration, assuring them that 2025 would witness massive infrastructural development across Plateau State.

“Electricity is central to boosting small businesses and driving economic growth. This initiative will empower the youth, enhance productivity, and improve livelihoods,” Bere added.

He also called on beneficiaries to take responsibility for maintaining the project, ensuring its longevity for the community’s benefit.

In his remarks, His Royal Highness, Da Gwom Chugwi, Atyos Mandung, praised Governor Mutfwang for appointing Dr. Bere, describing the transformer installation as a testament to grassroots governance.

“Dr. Bere’s effort shows a deep commitment to community development. I encourage him to sustain this momentum,” the traditional ruler stated.

The community expressed gratitude for the long-awaited intervention, marking the event as a milestone in addressing their longstanding power challenges.
