Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon after reaching a full verbal agreement with all parties.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on Tuesday, announcing, “Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved.”
Sporting Lisbon have reportedly accepted Arsenal’s final offer, which consists of a €63.5 million upfront fee plus €10 million in performance-related add-ons, bringing the total package to €73.5 million.
Gyökeres’ agent is said to have agreed to lower his commission to help smooth the transfer.
The 27-year-old striker will sign a five-year contract with the Gunners and is expected to be officially unveiled soon.
Gyökeres, who had an outstanding season in Portugal, was reportedly keen on the move and had his heart set on joining Mikel Arteta’s side.
“He only wanted Arsenal,” Romano added.
With personal terms agreed and negotiations concluded, the Swedish international becomes a key addition in Arsenal’s ongoing summer transfer campaign.
