Kidnapping, ransom payment affecting education in Northern Nigeria – PTAN’ Boss cries out

National president, Parents Teacher Association of Nigeria (PTAN), has condemned in totality the recent report of kidnapped government secondary school students in Awon community in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.

He also expressed sadness over the effect of kidnapping for ransom, adding that the menace is affecting tertiary institution, primary and secondary schools in northern part of Nigerian.

The national president of the association, Alhaji Haruna Danjuma who made the remarks in an interview, called on the state government to redouble effort towards rescuing all the kidnapped students in it recent report by the state.

He equally drew the attention of the state and federal government to secure all the primary and secondary schools across all the 36 states of Nigeria against the activities of terrorist, banditry and kidnapping for ransom, saying it’s affecting the education of children.

Danjuma also appealed to all educational and security experts to always support government with advice on ways to protect schools and boost quality education to move the country forward.

He expressed worries over “the harmful effect of banditry, kidnapping for ransom that is affecting tertiary institution, primary and secondary in northern part of Nigerian and hence the need for all stake holders to joined hands toward offering solutions and ways forward to tackled the menace.

He also called on states and federal government of all schools with digital learning equipment, and encouraged government and wealthy individuals, traditional leaders and religious bodies with security and para-military to ensure adequate security are deployed to all schools against the activities of unpatriotic citizens.

Furthermore, the association called on the President and C-n-C, and reminded all security chiefs of the remaining students (of yawuri Kebbi state, Chibok in Borno, and that of kaduna state), who are still in the hands of bandits, for their immediate release to enable them meet their family.

He reiterated the call for the release of all the kidnapped students across the country that were still in captivity, starting from the remaining chibok girls of Borno with Boko Haram in the North Eastern Nigeria, and some school students of Yawuri government secondary school kebbi state, and the recent kidnapped kaduna students at kachia local government kaduna state.

“We as parents still remind government on the need to secure the release of all our students across the north that are in captivity of terrorists.

“We are still calling on government to end banditry and kidnapping threatening peace instability in the country.

“We commend the effort of our gallant Nigeria security forces towards their marvelous contributions in restoring peace in Northeast and northwestern Nigeria.

“We equally commend the effort of ministry of education towards boosting the quality standards of education in the country at large”, he said.
