Lobi Stars FC Floors Flight FC 2-1 in Federation Cup Competition

Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi, clinched a 2-1 victory over Flight Football Club, Gboko, in the finals of the second edition of the President Federation Cup held at Benue State University, Makurdi.

The Makurdi-based side took an early lead in the first half, but Flight FC equalized at 4:52 PM as both teams battled for dominance. However, Lobi Stars secured their winning goal at 5:35 PM, sealing the victory despite Flight FC’s relentless attempts to level the score.

Both Lobi Stars FC and Flight FC will now represent Benue State at the national level of the Federation Cup.

Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange, Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Creativity, represented by Dr. Philip Nongo, commended the Benue Football Association (BFA) Chairman, Barr. Paul Ede, for organizing the tournament. He also wished the teams success in their national campaign.

Barr. Ede reassured football enthusiasts that BFA remains committed to developing grassroots football. He urged fans to support Lobi Stars, promising that the club would work towards overcoming its challenges in the Nigeria Football Premier League (NFPL) to avoid relegation.

The victory adds momentum to Lobi Stars’ campaign, as they prepare to compete against top teams at the national stage of the Federation Cup.
