Manchester United vs Chelsea: 1-1 Draw Highlights and VAR Controversy

By   Milcah   Tanimu

On November 3, 2024, Manchester United and Chelsea fought to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty for United in the 70th minute after Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez fouled Rasmus Højlund. Chelsea responded quickly with Moisés Caicedo’s volley, leveling the score just four minutes later.

Chelsea controlled possession and created several chances throughout the match. Late in the game, a tackle by Manchester United’s Lisandro Martínez on Cole Palmer prompted a VAR review. Despite the high challenge, the referee opted not to issue a red card, sparking debates among pundits and fans.

The draw leaves Manchester United with only 12 points from 10 games, marking their worst start since 1986-87. Meanwhile, Chelsea extended their winless streak at Old Trafford to 12 visits
