Mikel Obi Backs Jadon Sancho to Shine at Chelsea

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has expressed confidence in Jadon Sancho’s ability to excel at Chelsea, despite Sancho’s challenging stint at Manchester United.

Sancho joined Chelsea on transfer deadline day after finding limited opportunities at Manchester United. His previous fallout with coach Erik Ten Hag led him to a successful loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he played a key role in their UEFA Champions League campaign.

Returning to Manchester United this summer, Sancho struggled to secure a regular spot in the team, prompting his move to Chelsea on a season-long loan. His debut for Chelsea was promising, as he assisted Christopher Nkunku in their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Mikel Obi, who has been critical of Chelsea in the past, praised Sancho’s performance. On the Obione Podcast, Mikel remarked, “We saw the Jadon Sancho we saw at Borussia Dortmund. He didn’t perform at United, but we shouldn’t discredit his talent. There is a player there.”

Mikel, a Chelsea legend with multiple titles including the UEFA Champions League, believes Sancho can make a significant impact at the club.
