The father of marlians, Naira Marley, is set to serenade Nigerians in the lockdown with a free online concert for his self-proclaimed Marlian day on Saturday May 30th.
A host of artistes in the past have performed and reconnected with fans via online platforms during the lockdown. Tory Lanez’s Live social distancing tour earlier this month, and Andrea Bocelli’s Music for Hope: Live from the Duomo in Milan are good examples.
So, Naira Marley has join the bandwagon as he set to celebrate the self-proclaimed Marlian day. He will be playing live concert from an iconic monument in Lagos from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Subscribe to Naira Marley’s Youtube channel and Gidi Fest Facebook page to be a part of the event.
The live Online concert will feature his hit tracks “Soapy”, “Tesumole”, Marlians anthem “Opotoyi” and fellow singers WurlD and Zlatan alongside Marlian Music artists, Zinolesky, Moh Bad and Cblvck will feature in the event.
Naira Marley is no doubt an influential figure in the Nigerian Pop culture scene and he is not taking a day off in influencing his fandom and the Nigerian youths at large. Naira Marley came into prominence in a rather controversial way. His controversial track ‘Am I a yahoo boy’ and claim of being a Yahoo boy got him arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This gained a wide coverage in the Nigerian media especially the social media. Few days after his release form detention, he released ‘soapy’ another controversial song with dance steps that simulates self-pleasuring. Ever since, Naira Marley has been amassing followers who are known as Marlians.
