Nasarawa Assembly to support Govt. NGOs boost nutritional foods,tackle malnutrition in the state.

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has expressed its readiness to continue to partner with the state government and other Non Governmental Organizations NGOs especially donor agencies in order to boost the nutritional foods of children and fight malnutrition in the state.

Hon Usman Labaran Shafa the Chairman, House Committee on Health gave the assurance on Thursday in Consort Luxury Suite, Abuja at A Two Day pre-budget meeting on allocation, releases,and utilization of nutrition for key stakeholders from the legislator, permanent Secretaries and directors of the line ministries in Nasarawa State.

Labaran Shafa, who represents Toto/Gadabuke constituency and chairman house committee on health said that the continued partnership would not only tackle the malnutrition among children in the state but would also improve on the standard of living of the children and enable them to be morally sound as they grow.

” The importance of nutrition to the development of a child or children and the society at large cannot be overemphasized

” Nutrition will make the children sound, healthy and productive at all times.

“As a House, we will continue to partner with the state government and NGOs in order to boost the nutritional foods of children in the state, ” he said.

He has also assured the state government of the House’s readiness to support its various health programmes in the interest of the health of the people of the state and for the overall development of the state.

In their good will messages, Hon Peter Akwe, Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture and Hon Aliyu Dogara, Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, have assured of their committee’s readiness to support nutritional activities in the state.

While Hon Dogara who is the chairman house committee on Finance and Appropriation promised to give adequate consideration to budget proposal for nutrition,Hon Akwe who is the chairman of committee on Agriculture on his part, re-affirmed his commitment to ensure that the overall aims and objective of the workshop is achieve to the maximum.

It reported that the event had in attendance House committees Secretary of Finance and appropriation Mr.Aluma Joseph Peter and Hajiya Hadiza M. Bako of Health Committee.
