Ngozi Nwosu Discusses Her Role in New Film ‘Broken Portrait’

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu opens up about her latest role in the upcoming film “Broken Portrait.” Known for her extensive career and standout performance in the classic 1992 film “Living in Bondage,” Nwosu takes on the challenging role of Ezinne Idahosa, a mother grappling with her child’s drug addiction.

In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, Nwosu described the film as deeply emotional and compelling, highlighting its focus on the sensitive issue of drug addiction. She shared how the storyline’s uniqueness drew her to the project and how the emotional depth of the character required her to take moments for herself during filming.

Nwosu, who gained fame as Peaceful Peace in the 1990s soap opera “Fuji House of Commotion,” noted the significant changes in Nollywood over the years. While praising the industry’s growth, she expressed concerns about the focus on profit over quality, leading to a saturation of talent.

Reflecting on her career, Nwosu emphasized the importance of the story and the role when choosing projects. She expressed empathy for those struggling with addiction and their families, urging parents to be attentive to their children’s well-being.

“Broken Portrait,” written by Eyo Emmanuel and directed by Richmond Amechi, also stars Teni Aladese and Taye Arimoro. The film promises to be an emotionally engaging experience for audiences, with Nwosu’s performance at its heart.
