Nigerians call out AGN for ignoring sick actresses, Ify Onwuemene, Halima Abubakar but visited Regina Daniels who put to bed

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) made the rounds on social media days ago after they visited teenage actress turned billionaire’s wife, Regina Daniels Nwoko who put to bed.

During the course of their visit to her palatial mansion in Abuja, they crowned her baby, “Baby of the Year“.

This move came with backlash as fans of the Industry believe they paid a special visit to the Delta born actress who put to bed because she is married to a billionaire.

Some cited the fact that some other actresses like, Halima Abubakar who is reportedly a member of the guild put to bed but no such visit or “crowning” was made.

Others cited the fact that veteran actress, Ify Onwuemene who has been down with cancer for years was ignored (abandoned) by the guild as they are yet to post anything open up to the public about their support for her.

Actress Gloria Young took to her Instagram account weeks ago to solicit for Ify.

According to Young, Ify needs urgent financial help so she can beat the deadly disease.

Gloria wrote:

“Folks please we need help for our sister @ifyonwuemene an actress from the days of Sam loco and Enebeli Elebuwa. I worked with her last on the set of Tajudeen Adepetu’s “Everyday People” in the late 90’s. She is down with endometrial cancer. She has tried sourcing for funds on her own, but nothing is too small. Please send whatever you can to Ifey Onwuemene, Fidelity Bank 6010999993.
Thank you”

It should be recalled that actress, Lala Akindoju took to social media to lamblast the guild over the visit they paid to Regina.

Seeing that the AGN didn’t observe social distancing, Lala Akindoju slammed them for what she described as the wrong priority.

She also pointed out that they ought to be educating their members on keeping safe amid the coronavirus pandemic, not visiting them.

She shared: “This is actually shameful. In these times where the actor’s guild should show leadership on pressing issues like navigating the industry with COVID-19, like creating structures to stop sexual harassment in the industry. This is their priority. Even if you visit your member, must you film and post? The videos we need to see about future and safety of practitioners. Yet, they abuse us and insist that we join. Sigh! It is shameful because they should use the same energy to do the things that actually move the industry forward”.
