Nigeria’s box office has set a remarkable record, surpassing ₦7 billion in ticket sales with over 1.7 million admissions from January to September 2024. The Nile Group announced this achievement through their official Instagram page, celebrating a record-breaking year for Nigerian cinemas.

The statement read, “RECORD BREAKING YEAR 2024. Nigeria’s box office hits ₦7B ticket sales with 1.7M+ admissions and still counting.” The post highlighted the impressive films that contributed to this success, including Ajesepo, Lakatabu, Beast of Two Worlds, Queen Lateefah, Farmer’s Bride, and A Tribe Called Judah.

So far, the top-grossing films include:

  • Ajosepo, Lakatabu, and Beast of Two Worlds: N200M+ club
  • Queen Lateefah and Farmer’s Bride: record-breaking opening weekends
  • HellBoy and Hounds of War: Hollywood’s Nigerian success story
  • A Tribe Called Judah: N610M+ in 2024 alone

As the year progresses, the final months promise exciting releases. The Nile Group mentioned a robust pipeline of highly anticipated blockbusters, including:

  • October: The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3
  • November: Basketmouth’s A Ghetto Love Story
  • December: Funke Akindele’s Everybody Loves Jenifa, AY Makun’s The Waiter, and Mercy Aigbe’s Thin Line, among others.

With these exciting films on the horizon, The Nile Group expressed optimism. They project a record-breaking performance, aiming to exceed ₦10 billion in ticket sales by the end of 2024.
