Plateau LG Elections: APC Optimistic of Victory as Senator Lalong Addresses Southern Zone Electorate

With the Plateau State Local Government elections just around the corner, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District and the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, has expressed confidence in the party’s chances of emerging victorious.

On Monday, October 7, Senator Lalong arrived in his Southern Zone Senatorial District to kick off his engagement with the electorate, starting in QuanPan Local Government Area. There, he presented party flags to the APC Councillorship candidates, urging the people to vote for the party, which he said has consistently delivered the dividends of democracy. He criticized the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stating that it has failed to deliver tangible results after almost two years in office.

Hon. John Dafaan, Member Representing QuanPan, Shendam, and Mikang Federal Constituency, also assured the electorate that the APC is fully committed not only to winning elections but also to providing good governance and physical projects.

Earlier, Senator Lalong commissioned a block of classrooms in Pan community, facilitated by Hon. Dafaan, as evidence of the APC’s commitment to fulfilling its campaign promises.

Upon arriving in his hometown of Shendam, Lalong was greeted by jubilant supporters who participated in a street rally that ended at the APC office. Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Lalong thanked them for their unwavering support and emphasized the strong acceptance of the APC in both the southern zone and across Plateau State.

Lalong highlighted the new local government system under autonomy, which ensures that funds are directly allocated to the people, in contrast to previous practices. He assured the electorate that the APC would manage resources transparently, unlike the PDP, which he accused of failing to account for the billions of naira collected over the past two years.

The Senator urged party supporters to turn out in large numbers to vote and ensure their votes are counted, warning against any attempts at manipulation.

Hon. Basil Piupun, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Shendam Local Government, assured Senator Lalong of overwhelming support for the APC in the upcoming election.
