Qatar airways opens another route to Nigeria

Qatar airways has indicated it preparedness to open more air route to key commercial cities Nigeria.

Speaking at an event which in Abuja on Thursday, the Nigeria ambassador to the state of Qatar, Yakubu Abdullahi Ahmed stated that this is yet another strategic move by Qatar airways to provide its services to significant commercial cities in Nigeria.

He noted that Portharcourt is the 5th largest city in the country and the commercial hub in South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

He further disclosed that while Qatar airways direct flight offers tremendous opportunities to residents in Portharcourt, the city equally presents a chance for the airline to service major industrial players and several multinational firms engaged in petroleum business in the area.

“I therefore expect that the relationship between the two sides will be symbiotic as Qatar is equally a giant in the oil and gas business” he said.

The ambassador said he had noticed with great delight that this connection has the potential to push the frontier of both countries bilateral relations towards a more robust cooperation in oil and gas.

Ambassador Yakubu Abdullahi Ahmed conveyed government’s readiness to lend a hand of support towards pushing the frontier of friendship and partnership for the benefit of both Nigerians and Qataris.
