Sokoto EXCO Approves Purchase Six Vehicles For DG, Purchase Of Permanent Secretariat For And Reconstruction Of Former President Shagari Burnt House

Introducing the projects undertaken by stata government during its second meeting in the year 2024 Executive Council Meeting, the state Commissioner for Information Sambo Bello Danchadi he said five memos were presented and approved by the Council that include renovation of former President Shehu Shagari burnt house about three months ago, purchase of six utility vehicles to the office of the Deputy Governor, construction of motor parks to increse revenue generation,purchase of 136 housing units under the National Housing built by the Federal Ministry Housing and Urban Development.

The total amount to be paid is over one billion, eight hundred and twenty million to be paid in three installment beginning from February.

Giving the break down, the state Commissioner for Water Resources Alhaji Yusuf Maccido explained that the house is to be reconstructed at the cost of over two hundred and eigty four million, seven hundred and seventy nine thousand with thirty percent down payment and cimpletion period of six months.

Similarly, Commissioner for Lands and Housing briefed that the Executive Council has approved the construction of four additional motor parks within the metropolis.

The motor parks are two open body at Kwannawa, one for tankers beside Rima Rima Basin Development Authority and another for normal general transport at Farfaru behind filling stations currently used by Nigerian Union of Transport Workers.

He said this is with the view of easing transportation of goods and services within and outside the metropolis.

In the same vein, he said it to ensure that is ever is going out is documented while whatever is coming to the state would highly be scrutinised.

“It is against these nature the state government has approved trailer park at Kwannawa at the cost of over N165m, 619,000, additional motor park at Kwannawa at the cost of over N172m, 395,000 while that of Farfaru would cost the state government over N267m, 246,000 and the open body trailer park is to gulp over N228m, 13,000”.

Similarly, the purchase of permanent secretariat for the guards currently undergoing training N202m. The house has already been identified along Achida road.
