Tinubu Hosts China’s Foreign Affairs Minister at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday welcomed China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, is in Nigeria for a two-day working visit.

The meeting is expected to focus on the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in China. Discussions will cover key areas, including the economy, politics, and the oil and gas sectors.

The Chinese minister was earlier received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by Dunoma Umar Ahmed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, President Tinubu was joined by several officials, including the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Information, Idris Mohammed; and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

Tuggar and Wang Yi are expected to address the press after their discussions, shedding light on the outcomes of the bilateral engagements.
