Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly set to join Real Madrid on a five-year deal, bringing an end to his two-decade association with the Merseyside club.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has already been reached, and paperwork is being finalized. “Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, here we go,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Documents being prepared for a five-year contract.”
The move follows Alexander-Arnold’s emotional announcement that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, shortly after helping the club secure their 20th Premier League title.
“After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season,” the 26-year-old said. “This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life.”
A product of Liverpool’s academy, Alexander-Arnold became one of the club’s most iconic players in recent years. He said he chose not to address his future earlier to avoid distracting from the team’s title pursuit.
“I know many of you have wondered why I haven’t spoken about this yet, but my focus was always on helping the team secure No. 20,” he added.
The England international is now set to begin a new chapter with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
