Truck plunges into ditch in Abuja, 1 dies

At least one person has been reported dead, after a DAF truck lost control and plunged into a ditch on Saturday morning.

The accident, according to eyewitnesses, occurred at the Giri Junction of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, at about 6:30am.

Three people including the driver were involved in the accident, but one of the occupants died, while the other two escaped unhurt.

The driver of the truck with registration number KA615FKY, was said to be at a high speed.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Gwagwalada Command, arrived at the scene of the crash at about 07:10 am.

The body of the dead passenger has been deposited in the mogue.
