Why 17 rescued Chikbok girls, Leah Sharibu, cannot be released to their parents

By our correspondent

Fresh but highly revealing facts have began to emerged as to the real reason why the 17 rescued chibok school girls and their children are still under the custody of Prof. Umaru Zulum led Borno state government, instead of their parents.

Similarly, officials of Borno state government are allegedly aware of where Leah Sharibu, one of the abducted Christian chibok school girls who rejected conversion to Islam, is kept in Maiduguri and allegedly demanding to be reunited with her parents.

An activist and Borno Christian indigene, Rev. Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, who made the revelations in a statement availed to newsmen in Kaduna, however noted that the government officials refused to bring Leah Sharibu, out to the public as a rescued person when they noticed that ‘she will not agree to stay in their custody like the other 17 rescued Chibok school girls”.

Recalled that, Borno state government had always argued that the rescued chibok school girls are in government custody in the State owned Rehabilitation Centre, to acquire skills and education to enable them leave independent and better lives.

But Rev. Ali Dikwa, the Director General Centre for Justice on Religious and Ethnicity in Nigeria, revealed that Borno state government is taking instructions from the so-call repentant Boko-Haram and ISWAP terrorists groups; attributing it to one of the reasons the state refused to released the 17 rescued Chibok school girls (and their children fathered by the terrorists) to their parents.

According to Rev. Dikwa, a woman bearing the name Malama Kande revealed to him that two of her younger brother and other Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist members, who are in Sambisa Forest and Gwoza hills, are still communicating with the so-called repentant Boko-Haram members.

“The Borno State government is taking instructions from the so-call repentant Boko-Haram and ISWAP terrorists groups; this is the reason why they refused to release the 17 rescued Chibok school girls (and their children fathered by the terrorists) to their parents.

“The Borno State governor Prof. Babagana Umaru Zulum is been warned by the repentant Boko Haram and ISWAP members not to hand over their wives and children to the infidels, that if the Borno State government hand over their wives and children to the infidels they are going to expose the Borno State political leaders to the entire world on the agreement between them and the State political leaders both at the national and state levels.

“The Borno State political leaders employed the services of some Islamic clerics into brainwashing and inciting radical Islamic teachings to the Chibok school girls not to agree to go back to their parents. They were made to believe that since they (Chibok school girls) have accepted Islam as their religion, they now have new parents in Islam i.e the Borno State Muslim political leaders.

“The clerics teaches the Chibok girls Islamic religious principles and also making them to believe that Allah has already joined them together as one family with their new parents.

“The Islamic clerics, the Borno Muslim Elders Forum and the Muslim Political leader’s promised the girls heaven on earth, thereby deceiving and inciting the Chibok girls not to return to their real parents and Christianity.

“According to them, their bride price have been paid by the Federal government when they were kidnapped. They said federal government had paid millions of naira to the Chibok community leaders in Abuja for their marriage.

“The Borno Muslim politicians’, repentant Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists are referring to the money given to Chibok community leaders under former President Goodluck Jonathan as payment for their bride price.

“About Leah Sharibu, The officials of the Borno State government knew where Leah Sharibu was kept in Maiduguri. Leah is always asking her keepers to take her back to her parents but they have refused to bring her out to the public as a rescued person because they noticed that she will not agree to stay with them like the other 17 rescued Chibok school girls.

“One woman Malama Kande told me about two (2) of her younger brothers and over thousands of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist members who are still in Sambisa Forest and Gwoza hills.

“They have been communicating with the so-called repentant Boko-Haram members about the agreement and promise they have with the Borno state government before they will come out from the forest pretending to have repented”, it stated.

Contacted, commissioner for information and internal security, Prof. Usman Tar, directed our correspondent to “Speak to the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Zuwaira Gambo. She is directly responsible for this matter”.

All efforts to get Hon. Zuwaira Gambo, the Women affairs commissioner’s contact, through the Information commissioner, Tar, however proved abortive as he could not respond when contacted.
