By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

The FCT Minister Barr Nysome Wike on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with Contractors handling construction projects in some parts of the territory.

The minister said that with the spade of work going at the sites shows that the projects will be completed by May this year.

“I believe that we are going to meet up like they promised, by the grace of God, by May this year.”
The minister particularly express happiness at the level of work at the judges

“Look at the judges’ quarters of the FCT, the Federal High Courts and the Court of Appeal, it’s really amazing with the level they’ve gone.

The minister attributed the spate and level of work proper management of funds.
“That’s what I’ve always said, with proper management of funds, contractors are willing to put in their best.”

“When they see that funds are coming, they will not hesitate to work, and again, like I’ve said, due to competent contractors, with the kind of equipment you have seen, nobody will tell you the different story.”
The minister also commended the communities for their support to ensure that the work continues.

“Also, the support of the community to make sure that the work is not stopped. For their cooperation, we intend to thank them, and this is what we expect from them too. So, I’m very happy with what I’ve seen.”
Meanwhile, the minister disclosed that the administration has started compensation through the department of resettlement and has compensated those whose houses were demolished to make way for the infrastructural projects at OSEX Wassa to Life Camp, adding that those at Gisiri would be paid their compensation at the end of the week because the funds are ready.

Wike however, disclosed that he was not impressed about poor waste management littering
the satellite towns, adding that the administration have almost completed selection of competent contractors to carry out the waste management in these areas.

When you are moving down the road, you would see waste scattered all over the place and for me, it’s not acceptable to us, he emphasized.
