BY Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

A retired civil servant, Mallam
Mohammed S. Garba and resident of Takum road by Danboyi street in Rigasa, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state metropolis has cried out for help, saying his life is at risk.
“I wrote a letter to Local Government and chieftaincy affair ministry, which was sent to Emir in Zaria who re-sent it to the district head of Rigasa. The district head is not happy with me for writing the letter to the LG affairs ministry. At my level, is it wrong to be a whistle blower”, the grieving former mass communication lecturer lamented.

“I also sent text messages to Governor El-Rufai’s media officer, lbrahim Musa and to the commissioner in charge of security, Samuel Aruwan, but none of them responded” He said.

Mallam Garba had earlier written a petition letter of alleged involvement in properties, land racketeering and blocking of public road by the village Head of Hayin Mallam Bello, Alhaji Muhammadu Jibril.
A stamp copy of the petition letter of Ministry for local government and chieftaincy affairs, kaduna state obtained by our reporter alleged that the village head instructed the blocking of public road in Hayin Mallam Bello.

The letter dated 2nd December 2021 and addressed to the commissioner ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs, alleged that the village head gave permission to Abdulsalam Musa, his kinship relation, whose parents live in a neighborhood of about five hundred meters away, to block the said road by the expressway.

The petition signed by Garba also stated that Muhammad Jafar, an environmental health officer from Igabi LG primary health Care office, sent quit notice to owner/occupier of the illegal structures, Abdulsalam Musa, but was ignored as Musa refused to removed containers and illegal structures blocking the road.

The letter also revealed that early warning signals of likely hood of breakdown of law and order, monitored in the area, required prompt respond to the issue to avoid any eventuality that would lead to escalation of lawlessness in the area notorious for regular and ugly violent behavior.
According to the letter, the Nariya Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area has also been promptly furnished with the information about the incident.
Contacted, the district head of Rigasa who’s name was declined said he knew nothing about the allegations but said a committee has been set up to look into the matter.
The committee secretary however told journalists in present of the district head that the outcome of the committee is not for the consumption of the media.

Earlier, a committee member who’s name was given as Dallatun Wakilin Rigasa, claiming to be the chairman of the committee denied all the allegations leveled against the village head, adding that no road was blocked on man’s instruction, despite graphic views of structures made available to journalists.
