Sokoto Command Of The EFCC Seeks Working Relationship With The Press

The Economic And Financial Crimes Commission Sokoto Command has today Thursday conducted workshop for journalists in the state on Financial and Crimes Reporting.

Speaking,the Execurive Chairman of the Commission AbdulRashid Bawa represented by the zonal Commander Aliyu Musa said the aim was to enlighten the society on the modern system of monetary activities.

He said economic and financial crimes remain a mortal threat to individual and corporate progress.

“It is not only by being a victim of crimes that we suffer loses,we also suffer limitations when our neighbours,family members,colleaques,institutions and nation fall prey to them and that every hole in the armour of intergrity diminishes us a bit because we are involved in humanity”.

He said the task of exposing corrupt public officials is not demanding as they thought,”what it really calls for is commitment and attention to details and the way of doing this is through budget tracking”,averred Bawa.

He then affirmed that journalism is the best channel to whistle blowing because of its tenets and practice.

Abubakar Bawa similarly urged media to deploy more time,energy,commitment and professional strength to exposing fraudulent activities in both the public and private sectors.

At the ceremony, Chris Mshellia,Dele Oyewale and Cajetan Oghechie Egerue presented papers on “New Money Laundering Framework:Duties & Responsibilities of Individuals and Corporate Organizations,”Instigative Journalism and Nigeria’s Fight Against Money Laundering,” and Digital Payment System:Emerging Opportunities For Fraud and Prevention Tips for Victims
Spokesman of the EFCC, DCE Wilson Uwajaren urged journalists to publish report with professionalosm.

He also challenged all practicing journalists to engage in investigative journalism and acknoledged contributions of the press in all aspects of humanity.

The one workshop organized by Sokoto Command of the EFCC was attended by great number of practicing journalists in the state.
