Nigeria Can Attain Economic Potential Via Effective Service Delivery – NIWA

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The new Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, (NIWA), Mr. Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on Monday in Lokoja called on all sectors to support efficient and effective service delivery to activate the nation’s economic potentials.

Oyebamiji who made the call while
taking over the mantle of leadership of the Authority at the NIWA headquarters, Lokoja said “as an agency, our mission is clear, and our objectives are achievable.”

“I therefore bring to you a campaign of renewed hope that things can be better, and that things indeed will get better with our combined efforts I plead for your cooperation, dedication, and doggedness.”

He pointed out that he would soon unveil programmes and activities, in line with Mr. President’s charge and the mandate of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economies, with the thematics spelt out effectively.

“As we approach the task before us, let us delete every line of division in our daily activities. It is time for all hands to be on deck. We cannot afford to fail, and we will not, by the special grace of God.”

The Managing Director who described himself as an advocate of an open door policy where everyone matters, promised to make himself available and ready to receive suggestions, criticisms, and commendations that can move the Agency forward.

“I have the uncommon privilege to learn and practice classical banking under the duress of the industry in the marine sector, among others adding that NIWA can be performance-driven with your support. Especially, these two values will be my guiding principle as a servant in this position.”

“My life has been marked by discipline and accountability. I was thrown into a very competitive sector early in my career. The banking sector does not support mediocrity in any form.” Oyebamiji said.

The NIWA Director appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the opportunity afforded him to serve and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for his leadership style at the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
