JUST IN: Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Declines CCB Invitation Amidst Allegations

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has opted to forgo an invitation from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) regarding an ongoing inquiry into an alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for public officers.

During the scheduled meeting at the CCB headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, the minister did not appear, citing a national assignment. Veronica Kato, the CCB spokesperson, confirmed the development, stating that the interrogation would be rescheduled for a later date.

Kato said, “Yes, the minister’s interrogation has been rescheduled. He wrote, asking that it be rescheduled because he has a national assignment, so it has been rescheduled for a later date.”

The CCB had summoned Tunji-Ojo to address the involvement of his company, New Planet Projects, in a ₦438 million contract with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Interest groups, including the Coalition of Civil Rights Organisations and Elite Africa, have defended the minister, labeling the allegations as a media trial and politically motivated. They argue that the accusations aim to undermine Tunji-Ojo’s accomplishments and President Bola Tinubu’s achievements.
