Four students from Kwara State University (KWASU) have been apprehended following an incident that resulted in the death of a fellow student in the Malete community, Moro local government area. The arrests, made on Wednesday, are linked to an altercation that transpired the previous week at a private hostel near the university.
According to reports from Vanguard, the conflict originated when the deceased student was discovered recording the four suspects without their consent. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was allegedly filming a private discussion among the students when one of them noticed and questioned his actions.
Unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for filming without permission, the student faced the ire of the group, leading to a physical altercation. The situation escalated, and the four students reportedly attacked him, causing injuries that ultimately led to his death.
An anonymous student stated, “The victim later died from the severity of the beating meted out to him by the students.”
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), stated, “The alleged culprits were four, but I cannot confirm their names now. They have been arrested while an investigation is still ongoing over the matter.” The police are actively conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
