Oborevwori tasks traditional rulers, security agencies on security of Corps members

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on Tuesday charged all Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, community leaders and security agencies to prioritize the security of all corps members deployed to the State.

Governor Oborevwori gave the charge at the Closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch “A” Stream 11 Orientation Course for Corps members deployed to the State, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the State.

Oborevwori, represented at the ceremony by the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari added, “our environment must
become worthy ambassadors of the NYSC, your families and the nation”.

According to the governor, the Delta State Government is committed to its responsibilities to the NYSC and
Corps members.

He however, promised that government would continue to do everything within her limited resources to fulfill these obligations.

Oborevwori therefore, called on all government agencies and other employers of corps members to accept and utilize the services of all corps members posted to them effectively.

“The Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme of the NYSC,
which you have been exposed to, is a deliberate strategy for combatting unemployment.

He urged Corps members to internalise every lesson learned during the orientation exercise, saying that these will guide them throughout the service and thereafter.

Earlier in an address, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Olusegun Alao said Corps Members with the three weeks Orientation Course have demonstrated a high level of discipline, dedication, commitment, and readiness to serve diligently in various communities
across the state for their Primary Assignment.

He urged Corps members to go forth with humility, render rewarding service to their host communities, be exemplary teachers, and positively impact the lives of their pupils and students.

“Display your educational background, creativity, and leadership abilities. I also urge you to enhance your skills through the SAED post-camp training”, he stated.

He expressed profound gratitude to the State Government for the unwavering support to the NYSC, adding “we eagerly anticipate your promised intervention, to address the challenges
