Adams Jesse Odoba-Yacham

Victor Elias was the hero for Lafia based FC Basira as his brilliancy in goal secured their first ever NNL ticket against Family Worship Center (FWC FC) FC today in Jos.

The game which was played at the New Jos Stadium saw FC Basira draw the first blood in the 64th minutes when defender Emmanuel Iliya scored from the spot after the referee spotted an infringement in FWC FC danger zone.

Family Worship Center (FWC) FC however responded four minutes later when Joseph Oko guided home his shot to even the scores and the game ending in score draw, a winner had to be decided by penalties.

And with the lottery of penalties to decide who will cross the ladder to the most important league in the world, Elias Victor stopped two FWC FC Penalties as against the one lost by FC Basira to win by 4-3.

The Nasarawa State FA Chairman who was equally on ground with some of his board members to see the game in has congratulated the Lafia Boys for breaking their jinx of not being able to pull through the final stage of the qualifications.

“I will like to congratulate FC Basira on the latest feat attained by qualifying for the second tier of Nigerian football, although the journey wasn’t easy but you have put smiles on our faces with the result and we will continue to give you the necessary support to aim even further higher, he concluded”.

FC Basira will be the first private team ever since the extinction of Aklosendi Int’l FC from Nasarawa State to play in the NNL.
