Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf And Security Challenges In Kano State.

By: Dr. Sagir Sadisu Buhari FCIA.

Kano State, a commercial hub in Nigeria, faced another wave of public looting and vandalism on August 1, 2024, disguised as protests.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusif’s attribution of these incidents to “enemies of the state” raises concerns about his leadership and handling of security issues.

The recent events are part of a larger pattern, with similar incidents occurring in 2023 at various locations, including Filin Idi Market, Daula Hotel, Salanta Community, Race Course Mall, APC Party Office, and other public and private properties in Kano State.

This recurrence suggests a failure to address underlying issues and ensure accountability. As the chief security officer, Governor Abba Kabir Yusif bears significant responsibility for maintaining law and order.

Rather than blaming imaginary enemies, he must take a proactive approach to addressing security challenges. This includes engaging with stakeholders to find sustainable solutions.

The people of Kano State deserve effective governance and security. It is time for the governor to take charge, acknowledge his role in the state’s security challenges, and work towards solutions.

A lack of synergy, political partisanship, and imaginary enemies may have contributed to the failures, evident in the governor’s inability to effectively collaborate with security agencies and other stakeholders.

Kano State urgently needs peace and security. We implore Governor Abba Kabir Yusif to take immediate action to address these challenges by providing good leadership, educating our youth, and providing job opportunities.

Unemployment, poverty, and lack of education are the real enemies of the state, fueling vandalization and looting. Addressing these issues will ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.
