Espanyol sporting director Fran Garagarza confirmed the club’s decision to reject Arsenal’s €20 million bid for goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Arsenal, seeking a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale, had identified Garcia as their top target but faced resistance from Espanyol, which insisted on the player’s €30 million release clause.
Garagarza explained that Garcia, still developing, is seen as a vital asset for the club. He emphasized that selling the young goalkeeper would weaken their squad and expressed confidence that Garcia’s value will increase in the future.
“The interest in him is not going to stop,” Garagarza stated. “The time to sell Joan may be at another time.”
