Deji Adeyanju Reveals Grammy Award Winner Behind Speed Darlington’s Arrest

By Daniel Edu

Prominent activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has revealed that Nigerian singer and social media personality, Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, is currently in the custody of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.

According to Adeyanju, Speed Darlington, also known as “Akpi,” was arrested following a petition filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.

The arrest reportedly took place last Friday in Lagos, after which Darlington was transferred to Abuja, where he has remained in detention. Adeyanju shared this information via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, though details of the petition were not disclosed.

Adeyanju wrote, “We just spent the last 30 minutes with Speed Darlington, and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos on Friday, moved around, and eventually brought to Abuja, where he has been in detention. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy, we can confirm.”

The development follows a recent video where Speed Darlington questioned the legitimacy of Burna Boy’s Grammy win, linking the artist to American music mogul Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy posted a cryptic message on his X account on Tuesday morning, writing, “Who’s missing?”

As of now, the Nigerian Police Force has not made any official statement regarding Speed Darlington’s arrest.
