Governor Ahmed Aliyu has been honored with an Award of Excellence and Outstanding Performance for his execution of developmental projects in Sokoto State.
Abubakar Bawa, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement, presented the award to Governor Aliyu during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Sokoto.
The award recognizes the governor’s efforts in transforming the state effectively. “I had the opportunity to visit many parts of the state, especially in the metropolis, and from what I have seen so far, the governor is truly working,” Yakasai stated.
He noted that the Community Engagement Department established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aims to gather responses and feedback from the Nigerian populace on various people-oriented programs being executed by the federal government across the nation.
“We have a conditional cash transfer program that Mr. President has introduced to assist Nigerians, especially the youth,” he added. Yakasai revealed that he has allocated 300 slots for students of Sokoto State University to ensure that Sokoto benefits from this initiative.
“I will also provide additional slots for the state to enroll more people in the program,” he pledged. He reminded the public that to be enrolled in the conditional cash transfer program, individuals must possess a National Identification Number (NIN).
In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu expressed gratitude for the award, describing it as a clarion call to do even more. He also commended President Bola Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at transforming the country.
“I would like to commend our dear President for executing various projects in the state, including water schemes in different areas,” he stated. “We are 100 percent behind our dear President and will continue to pray for his success,” he assured.
Additionally, the Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, informed the governor that his ministry had executed several water projects across the state, which were also commissioned by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement.
He assured the governor that more such projects are in the pipeline, mentioning an upcoming irrigation program. “We have identified three locations where irrigation activities will be carried out in the state,” he added.
The Minister further stated that the federal government, under the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, had introduced several programs aimed at improving irrigation across the nation.
He urged Nigerians to take advantage of these initiatives and participate in irrigation activities to bolster food sufficiency in the country. The Minister also thanked Governor Aliyu for his people-oriented projects throughout the state.
